Student Massage Clinic
Our on-site student clinic is part of the Advanced Massage Therapy Diploma. Students deliver customized treatments under RMT supervision. Sessions are a strong option if you want spa-quality care at a lower price, or if you do not have insurance coverage.
Student massages are not eligible for insurance reimbursement because the therapist is not yet a registered RMT. If you need to bill extended health benefits, book an RMT instead.
Academic, Career, and Wellness Support
Academic counselling
Questions about classes, transfer credits, or whether you are in the right stream go to Aliana. Curriculum and career-academic advising live with her.
Admissions & money
Loans, payment plans, official letters, and enrollment questions go to Nevin. She will sit with you until the paperwork makes sense.
Tech & Teams
Outlook, Microsoft Teams, internet, cameras, and login issues go to Hussain. Use your NAKH email once it has been issued.
Student relations
Schedules, field placement, events, and day-to-day student life go to Nerissa.
Massage assignments
Technique questions, case studies, and practical grading go to Karim.
Safety concerns
Complaints, harassment, or safety issues go to Aliana. Disaster procedures (fire, earthquake) go to Karim, who holds disaster management training.
Housing, Health, and Study Permits
NAKH helps international students with housing leads, healthcare orientation, academic counselling, cultural adjustment, and mental health support. We do not operate our own residence. South Edmonton, near campus, is the most practical area to live.
Finding housing
- Civida for subsidized and mixed housing information
- Local rental listings, student housing boards, and Edmonton neighbourhoods near Capilano / the south side
- Ask Nevin during admissions if you need help narrowing options
Health and social services
- Eligible residents can enroll in the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP)
- Grey Nuns Community Hospital is the closest hospital to campus; walk-in clinics and pharmacies are in the Capilano area
- For medical emergencies, call 911
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
Important: Under current IRCC rules, students who attend Private Career Colleges are not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit after completing their studies. Please factor this into your plans. We will still support you academically and professionally while you are here.
Code of Conduct and Related Policies

What is the Code of Conduct?
The Student Code of Conduct sets the standards expected of students and holds individuals and groups responsible for the consequences of their actions. Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in expulsion or other discipline. All members of this community are expected to conduct themselves in a way that contributes positively to an environment where respect, civility, diversity, opportunity, and inclusiveness are valued. This code applies to any student enrolled in a diploma, credit course, or certificate program at NAKH, including domestic and international students.
Prohibited conduct
- Assaulting, harassing, intimidating, or threatening another individual or group
- Endangering the health or safety of others
- Stealing, misusing, destroying, defacing, or damaging college property or someone else's property
- Disrupting college activities
- Using college facilities, equipment, services, or computers without authorization
- Making false accusations against any member of the college
- Supplying false information, or forging, altering, or misusing any college document or record
- Storing, possessing, or using real or replica firearms or other weapons, explosives (including fireworks), ammunition, or toxic or dangerous materials on college premises
- Using, possessing, or distributing illegal drugs
- Violating provincial liquor laws
- Hazing
- Encouraging, aiding, or conspiring in any prohibited conduct
- Failing to comply with a disciplinary measure imposed under this Code
Attendance
This is a hands-on professional program. Regular attendance in labs, clinic, and scheduled classes is expected. If you have a scheduling conflict, contact your instructor as soon as possible through Microsoft Teams, email, or the school line at 780-461-6708.
Transfers
Incoming transfer credit requests must be submitted before you complete your first semester. Use the official form, attach transcripts and syllabi, and email transfercredit@nakhinstitute.com. Phone calls about transfer credit are not used for decisions. See the Transfer Credit form and policy.
Student complaints
Raise academic, interpersonal, or safety concerns with Aliana. If the issue is financial or contractual, start with Nevin. You can also email registrar@nakhinstitute.com. We take complaints seriously and expect the same honesty and respect outlined in the Code of Conduct.
Academic probation
Students who fall below program academic or professional standards may be placed on academic probation with a written improvement plan. Continued failure to meet requirements can lead to withdrawal from the program. Talk to an academic advisor early if you are falling behind.
